What is a Spending Plan? Budgeting on Steroids: a radically different way of oganising your financial affairs
There are many people who earn a good salary, but they never seem to get ahead financially. They try budgeting, but something happens that is not expected, and the budget falls apart. They try self-discipline, but one of two things usually happen: the person doesn't spend when an opportunity arises, and everyone around them feels that there is no joy in life because the financial captain is a tight-wad; or they spend at each opportunity when it presents itself, not knowing that the money being spent will be needed several months down the track for something that is critical and will usually require resorting to credit card spending, or a personal loan, or even an extension of the mortgage.
Budgets do not work because they are historically oriented. At best they tell you if a certain financial plan is possible, but they do not tell you how much money you actually need on a day-to-day basis, to pay for all your expenses over the next 365 days, and how much you need to have in the bank today to be able to accomplish your bigger goals into the future (up to 10 years from now).
